Gas companies sought price hike

Gas companies have requested the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) to increase the price of Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) citing the financial crisis faced by them owing to the increasing gas prices in the world market.
At present, a 12.5 kg domestic LPG cylinder sells for Rs 1,493 in the local market.
The world market price of a metric ton of gas has increased by 67% percent reaching USD 604 and the local gas companies calim that they can no longer sell gas at the current prices.
As per the sources, the decision in relation to the above will be announced in future.
