Focus on weather today

Showers will occur in the Southwestern part during the next few days as well. Heavy showers exceeding 100 mm are expected in the Galle, Matara districts and in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces.

Showers or thundershowers during the evening in the Uva and Ampara and Batticaloa districts.

 The Met Department warns that strong winds of 40-50 kmph are possible in the western slopes of the Central Highlands, North, North Central and North Western provinces and in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.

The Meteorological Department urges the public to take necessary measures to prevent accidents caused by lightning and wind.
