Facebook to launch a special blood donation feature in SL

Facebook announced the launch of a blood donations feature for Sri Lanka, making it the 29th country to recieve it.

 

The feature will be available from January 27 to the Facebook users in the country, said the Policy Programs Manager for Sri Lanka, Facebook, Yasas Vishuddhi Abeywickrama.

 

He added that the said feature is being launched with the aim of raising the number of blood donors in the country and to encourage more individuals to donate blood. 

 

Accordingly, the facebook users aged between 18 to 55 years in the country will be able to sign up to obtain updates in relation to the blood donations and requirements at the nearest blood centres or hospitals. 

 

24 blood banks in Sri Lanka have been connected to this feature.
