Extra doses of the Covishield with remaining liquid

Director-General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena has come up with an innovative solution to the scarcity of Covishield Astra Zeneca vaccines. Dr. Asela Gunawardena has given orders to create extra doses of the Covishield Astra Zeneca vaccines from the liquid remaining in each vial.

 

The feasibility of such action or its appropriateness is not known yet. According to the suggested plan  more doses of the vaccine could be created and administered to the public who received the first jabs.

 

“It has been brought to my notice that sometimes, the remaining liquid is adequate for the administration of another dose (i.e., 0.5ml),”  said the Direction General.
