Environmentalists angry about artwork removal

The environmentalists are protesting that their art installation on climate change has been pulled down by the Colombo Municipal Council despite having approval.
The StopEcocideSL climate action event was organized by a number of environmental organizations. The police claimed that they were unaware of the approvals given.
The groups have come together to raise awareness about climate change and large scale deforestation at a time when the government is been criticized for allowing deforestation to happen.
The media has seen signed copies of the approved request letters. Melani, a member of the Extinction Rebellion (XR) Sri Lanka and Climate Action Now Sri Lanka said:
“We put up the mural last night, but since this morning they have been trying to take it down. They took it down thrice already. Then they tried to confiscate it so our members who were here sat on the print,”
