Entry of pilgrims into the sacred city of Kataragama restricted ; annual procession to commence without spectators

In light of the Annual Kataragama Esala Perahera, entry for pilgrims into the sacred city of Kataragama will be restricted from July 21 to August 4.

 

Accordingly, the 2248th Annual Kataragama Esala Perahera procession will be held withut spectators.

 

Stringent health guidelines set by the authorities to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, will be imposed on the pilgrims who visit the temple.
