Grade 6 Life skills: THE REGION WE LIVE IN (Part 2)

In this article, our major focus will be on one of the key areas of the lesson, where you will be able to understand the importance of “living cooperatively with people of the area”.

 

Man is a social animal and an advanced human civilization was born when he began to inculcate mutual co-operation between each other. Man cannot live alone and in order to survive, mutual co-operation is essential. It should be noted that co-operation is an aspect that is not limited to the neighborhood or the village. Co-operation can be inculcated broadly. Starting from the individuals, it can spread across the family, neighbors, village, town, country and eventually the whole world.

 

Cooperation can be observed among the residents of an area in several instances in our society such as the construction of tanks, shrmadana campaigns, and construction of religious monuments like dagabas, kovils and churches, instances of religious festivals, marriages, funerals, harvesting, dansal, processions and natural disasters.

 

When cooperation exists, the work gets easier and it strengthens unity among the people. It not only helps the improvement of the family, it also helps the progress of the respective area to a greater extent. Co-operation allows to build goodwill among individuals and it paves way towards the promotion of peace and harmony in the area, where fraternity among people also develops. Co-operation makes room for the preservation of the traditions and manners that have come down from generations since past. This helps to protect the cultural values. Co-operation saves money and the fruits of the respective work can be reaped just by working together in harmony. Co-operation saves time, because when people work together, the tasks could be easily completed in a short lapse of time. It also helps to achieve objectives and eventually reach success. Co-operation instills a sense of pleasure and satisfaction in people.

 

All in all, it should be noted that, co-operation is an essential aspect that boosts the development of the area.
