"Khark" catch on fire and sinks

"Khark" catch on fire and sinks

According to the Iran's semi-official Fars News Agency, one of the biggest vessels in Iranian navy  named "khark" has sunk in the Gulf of Oman after catching fire.

"Khark" had been a huge training and logistical ship which was in service more than 4 decades. It had taken part in many training operations during its life time.

The cause for this huge fire is still unclear. According to Fars, the vessel had been to the sea for a naval training operation and there one of its system had caught fire near Jask.

Although there had been a big rescue operation of nearly 20 hours to save the vessel by Civil and Naval Military rescue teams, all the efforts had become useless as the vessel had sunk off the coast of the southern Iranian port of Jask.

Fortunately, the crew had been rescued without any casualty.
