I raise my voice in Parliament, but my brother ends up in jail - Namal

If the government spends its time solving the problems of the people instead of targeting politicians and their families, it will help strengthen the economy, enabling citizens to eat three meals a day which is far more worthwhile, Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa said.
He made this comment to the media after Yoshitha Rajapaksa was granted bail.
"When political hunting happens, we often rely on the courts for assistance. I’m the one who raises my voice in Parliament, but my brother is the one who ends up in jail," he said.

"It is not illegal to implement laws against us, but it was unfair to come to Beliatta via the expressway to arrest Yoshitha," he added.
"Implementing the law against Yoshitha Rajapaksa is not the issue, but the manner in which it was done using the expressway to arrest him was wrong. If they had informed us, we would have presented ourselves on Monday or Sunday."
He further urged the government to follow due processes.
"We are asking the government to take us to court and prove if we have done anything wrong, instead of engaging in media spectacles and wasting public funds. Do not take revenge on us for political gain," Namal Rajapaksa said.
