Woman arrested for Rs. 45 million fraud

A woman who defrauded several individuals and collected more than Rs. 45 million by promising attractive interest payments was arrested by Hatton Police. 

She was produced before Hatton Magistrate M. Farukdeen and remanded until March 18.

The suspect Dilini Shamen Shockman (31) was a resident of Kandegedara in Badulla and mother of three children.

Police told court that the suspect woman who had cheated a woman of Hatton area and obtained from her Rs.500,000 and avoided her and that she had been released on strict bail conditions when produced in court. 

She had been ordered to report to Hatton Police on the last Sunday of every month, However she neglected it and evaded court for more than five months and that the court had issued arrest warrants.

She was arrested at Hatton Railway Station while waiting for a friend arriving by train.
