I’m not responsible for rice shortage, says Dudley Sirisena

I’m not responsible for rice shortage, says Dudley Sirisena

While asserting that he is not responsible for the rice shortage in the country, large-scale rice supplier Dudley Sirisena stated that rice mill owners are required to purchase paddy at the government’s controlled price, which he believes should be revised.

Speaking at a ceremony in Bollegala, Kelaniya, he told the media, “There is a shortage of rice, but I can’t help it. I will not allow anyone to take it easy this time. The shortage of rice is not my fault. Any questions about it should be directed to those responsible for it. We have to purchase paddy at the control price set by the government.

They should revise the control price and address the issue with the relevant parties to resolve it. Please don’t put the blame on me. Are they not in a position to make calculations?”
