Former Minister’s daughter arrested in Akuressa for possession of ammunition
A 44-year-old woman, the daughter of late Provincial Minister P.B. Dissanayake, was arrested in Galenbindunuwewa, Akuressa, after 28 rounds of live ammunition were discovered at her residence.
P.B. Dissanayake, the former politician, passed away in 2000. Recently, his 11-year-old grandson was caught by a teacher while playing with live ammunition. The teacher reported the incident to the school principal, who subsequently notified the police.
Following an investigation prompted by the student's information, Galenbindunuwewa police raided the house and uncovered a cache of ammunition, including 17 rounds of T-56, 10 rounds of 9mm and various rounds of ammunition for other revolvers. The ammunition was reported to be unusable.
The woman was produced before courts and remanded till September 10.
