Sri Lanka Customs makes Rs. 430 Mn worth largest BIA Kush detection ever

The Sri Lanka Customs this evening thwarted an attempt by a female British national to enter the country with a massive Rs. 460 million worth of Kush consignment, thus making it the largest detection of the Cannabis variety in the airport history. 

 

Customs Narcotic Control Unit officials attached to the Arrival Terminal of the Bandaranaike International Airport, on suspicion intercepted the female foreigner to seize the drugs. 

 

Customs spokesperson Additional Director General Seevali Arukgoda told that the British national on board a SriLankan Airlines flight UL 405 from  Bangkok, Thailand had arrived in the country around 3.45 pm. 

 

The officials found a staggering 46 kilos of Kush, which has a local street value of Rs.460 million, packed in her checked luggage.

 

One gram of premium Kush is sold approximately at Rs.10,000 among the suburban high end consumers, sources with the Customs Narcotic Control Unit said. 

 

The female foreign suspect along with the contraband is to be handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau for further legal proceedings.
