Seven companies agree to pay estate workers Rs. 1,700 daily wage - President

Claiming that seven plantation companies have agreed to pay estate workers Rs. 1,700 per day, President Ranil Wickremesinghe said he will convene the Wages Board on Monday to discuss the matter.

Addressing the Kandy District Plantation Labour Unions and Youth Leaders meeting today, he said he was ready to introduce special laws to enforce the decision, if necessary.
