Moderate air quality in cities, good air quality only in Nuwara Eliya

 According to the Air Quality Index (AQI) in major urban areas across the country, a moderate level of air quality was recorded in most cities, while a good level was observed in Nuwara Eliya, the Vehicular Emission Test Trust Fund of the Department of Motor Traffic said.

 

They said the AQI forecast indicated that the levels would range between 60 and 118 throughout the day, suggesting slightly unhealthy air quality in Colombo 07, Jaffna, Galle, Trincomalee, Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura due to transboundary conditions from the northern region.

 

Individuals with respiratory issues or sensitivities are advised to seek medical attention if this condition causes breathing difficulties. The AQI in most cities is expected to remain at a moderate level.

 

The maximum AQI levels are expected during two time periods: 7:30–8:30 a.m. and 1:00–2:00 p.m. 

 

Comparatively, the AQI in most cities across the country is predicted to improve to a good level within the next 24 hours.
