NIA arrests former LTTE intelligence operative in Chennai for drug trafficking

India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday arrested a former LTTE intelligence operative from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on charges of smuggling arms and drugs from Pakistan to Sri Lanka.

Supports the revival of the Tamil militant group.

Satkunam alias Sabeshan (47), a former LTTE member and Sri Lankan national, was arrested by the NIA in Valsarawakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu yesterday (October 5) in connection with an arms related incident.

Using the drug trade from Pakistan to Sri Lanka and the proceeds from it to support the revival of the LTTE, ”the NIA said in a statement.
