Gammanpila says that it is up to the Minister of Finance to decide the fuel price

Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila said that it is up to the Finance Minister to decide the fuel price for this budget month.

 

The Minister further said that despite the heavy losses, the fuel prices were not increased because there was no need to impose a heavy burden on the people who are already under immense pressure.

 

He said the reason for this was that a liter of diesel costs Rs. 111 and kerosene Rs. 77 and therefore machines in factories, boats and even buses are now operating using kerosene instead of diesel.

 

The Minister of Energy said that the release of kerosene has been restricted in areas where there are no farmers and fishermen these days.
