Four reasons for recent events, including user negligence, from Litro Gas

The recent incidents and confusion over gas-related explosions that have occurred in the country have been caused by the use of inferior quality regulators, hoses, cookers, and user negligence, Litro Gas Lanka said.

 

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Dr. Harsha de Silva has stated that experts from the Moratuwa University have revealed that there is a high probability for a gas leak if the gas composition has been changed to 50% Propane and 50% Butane.

 

He said State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna had revealed that this change in the gas composition causes a much higher probability of a leak from the regulator or hose of a gas cylinder.

 

Stating that the situation was such a confusion with ‘allegations flying all over’, MP Harsha de Silva said some are saying cylinders can never explode and the composition is irrelevant, and the fault is with the consumer buying sub standard gas cookers.
