Cabinet nod to revise water and sewerage tariffs

 

The Government Information Department says that the Cabinet has given its approval to revise the rates for water and sewerage.

The government says it has recognized the need to increase water and sewerage charges to ensure continuity of water supply and financial stability of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB).

Accordingly, the Council of Ministers approved the proposal submitted by the Minister of Water Supply Mr. Keheliya Rambukwella to revise the water and sewerage charges to settle the recurring expenses and debt service obligations of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board.
