1,300 containers of essential goods are stuck in ports
The importers said that over a period of three months, about 1,300 containers of imported cargo had been stranded in the Port of Colombo.
A spokesman for the Essential Commodities Importers' Association said that containers containing essential commodities such as milk powder, sugar, dhal, garlic, sprats and canned fish were stuck at the port and that the situation was due to the banks not releasing the required funds.
