Katugas Falls

Katugas Falls

Today we give our travel friends a place to visit. This beautiful waterfall is called Katugas Falls. That cascades down the Kospelawinna village in the Ratnapura District. Although it is 6 meters high, the beauty of the falls is indescribable.

This amazing waterfall is fed by water sources from the Sri Pada site. Going to the waterfall is not easy. Because the waterfall runs down in two parts. At first the lower part is about a meter high. A lot of people think that's the end of this water fall. But from there it is not easy to jump over the rocks but at the end you can reach Katugas Falls which is 6 meters high. Going to the waterfall during the rainy season is a battle between life and death. Because there are moats around.

For those who don't know, don't even think about taking a risks to go to this water fall during the rainy season. Especially going with elderly persons as well as kids is dangerous. You can even bathe in the natural ponds here and there. There is also a beautiful natural pond at the foot of the waterfall. It is also a place where you can take a bath. But in the rainy season it is dangerous. So here how you go there. From Ratnapura turn off at Weralupa Junction and drive for about 2.5 km. Vehicles crossing the small bridge have to be stopped. From there you have to go about 100 meters along a main road. Where we end up in our destination. So come and enjoy this beauty without ruining it. And keep natural beauty as it is.
